Cashmere Care

How to care for Mongolian cashmere

Treated well, cashmere softens with wear and can last for decades. A few quiet habits matter more than special products.

Everyday wear

  • Rotate pieces so fibres can recover between wears.
  • Avoid sharp jewellery and rough bags that catch the knit.
  • Brush gently with a cashmere comb if light pilling appears — pilling is normal on new knits and is not a defect.

Washing

  • Hand wash in cold water with a mild wool or cashmere detergent.
  • Do not wring, twist or tumble-dry.
  • Press water out gently between towels, then lay flat to dry away from direct heat.
  • Dry cleaning is fine for structured coats and pieces with linings.

Storage

  • Fold — do not hang heavy knits (shoulders stretch).
  • Store clean and dry; cedar or lavender helps keep moths away.
  • Give pieces air between seasons.
